7-25-22 THOUGHTS
This morning's thoughts are a repeat of last evening’s lesson. Heb 11:1 Now faith is the assurance [substance] of [things] hoped for, the conviction [evidence] of things not seen. The words and facts presented below form the SUBSTANCE OF OUR FAITH! We are one step in front of FAITH! The DEATH-BURIAL-RESURRECTION of the SON OF GOD forms the BASIS FOR OUR FAITH! Our reading last night then was John 19:16 -John 20:31. We can only place a few verses from this reading. Go read it all! Be absorbed in what is said! It will surely bless you! ETERNITY IS ABOUT THIS!
John 19:17-18 They took Jesus, therefore, and He went out, bearing His own cross, to the place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha. 18 There they crucified Him, and with Him two other men, one on either side, and Jesus in between.
John 19:24-30 So they said to one another, "Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, to decide whose it shall be"; this was to fulfill the Scripture: "THEY DIVIDED MY OUTER GARMENTS AMONG THEM, AND FOR MY CLOTHING THEY CAST LOTS." 25 Therefore the soldiers did these things. But standing by the cross of Jesus were His mother, and His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus then saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, "Woman, behold, your son!" 27 Then He said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother!" From that hour the disciple took her into his own household. 28 After this, Jesus, knowing that all things had already been accomplished, to fulfill the Scripture, said, "I am thirsty." 29 A jar full of sour wine was standing there; so they put a sponge full of the sour wine upon a branch of hyssop and brought it up to His mouth. 30 Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.
John 19:33-35 but coming to Jesus, when they saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. 34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. 35 And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you also may believe.
John 20:29-31 Jesus said to him, "Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed." 30 Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.
Acts 20:28 "Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.
My Prayer:
Lord, we thank you that you have purchased us with the blood of the lamb, your son, and placed us in the blood-bought Church, His bride. Help us to have awesome reverence for this standing. May we zealously, and joyfully and boldly preach this story to the world as lights and salt. Remove our complacency and self seeking. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
